AJK LA unanimously approves budget 2020-2021

MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly on Tuesday unanimously approved budget for the fiscal year 2020-2021.With a record outlay of Rs139.5 billion, the annual budget of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) for the fiscal year 2020-21 approved in the session of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly chaired by the Speaker AJK LA, Shah Ghulam Qadir. Rs115bn has been allocated for recurring expenditures and Rs24.5bn for developmental activities. Speaking to the budget session, AJK Minister for Finance Dr. Najeeb Naqi Khan paid rich thanks to Allah Almighty for the successful approval of fourth budget of people’s welfare. Dr. Najeeb Naqi said that the situation of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) is very bad since the decision of August 5, 2019.The government of base camp devised policy on August 8 and Assembly members raised the Kashmir issue at international level accordingly. Kashmiris themselves played remarkable role in presenting their case in front of the international community. Overseas Kashmiris played their vital role in unveiling the real face of India in front of the whole world, he added. He said that the construction of bunkers and betterment of roads in all the areas closer to the Line of Control (LoC) will be the top priority. Huge funds have been allocated in the budget to fight against the spread of coronavirus pandemic. The condition led by COVID-19 in AJK is quite better than that in Pakistan. Doctors have been given all the facilities in AJK. The timely decision of lockdown taken by the government has been proven right. The controlled situation of coronavirus pandemic in AJK is because of the right decisions of the government at right time, he added. Finance Minister said that funds have been allocated in the budget for the people centric projects in all the sectors. Huge funds have been allocated for road infrastructure. The condition of roads in AJK are quite better than that of past. Attention is being given on tourism sector, he further said.
