ISLAMABAD: Over 200 teachers in Islamabad’s different Schools and Colleges under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) have been working for the past 11 months without salaries that are pending since February of the last year.
According to details, in 202 Institutions in Islamabad, computer labs were built in 2017 and 202 Computer Teachers were hired in 2018 for 3 years contract with a 1-year extension wherein the Ministry of IT hired them in collaboration with USF and FDE after putting them through the standard hiring processes of regular advertisements, tests, and interviews.
After the successful completion of the ICT project on 20th Jan 2022. In the pursuance of administrative approval offer letter titled “sustainability of Computer Labs established by the USF along with retention of 202 computer Teachers in Schools/colleges of FDE” has been issued by the P&D department of FDE with the order of the Ministry of Education to them for a new three-year contract in February 2022, which will be renewed yearly.
For this, a budget was also approved by the Finance Ministry which was given to AGPR in August 2022. In spite of this, the objections raised by AGPR have not been removed yet and the P&D wing has been unable to address the minor objections raised by AGPR for three months. 202 female computer teachers have been working without salaries for the past 11 months even after the budget release.
It is requested to the higher authorities of our organization remove the AGPR objections immediately and ensure the release of salaries and arrears. In addition to the 202 computer teachers, It affects the 202 computer teachers, their 202 families, and students who study in their shadows.
How can these teachers be able to focus on the students When the stoves in the homes of these teachers are cold and these teachers are suffering from financial problems then how can they concentrate on the students? We request our officials resolve this issue immediately otherwise We’ll have no choice but to go outside.
