Gilgit-Baltistan: Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan has emphasized that with the cooperation of the Provincial Home Minister Committee, Provincial Secretary Home, IG Gilgit-Baltistan Police, all intelligence agencies, enforcing institutions, and esteemed religious scholars, an exemplary state of peace has been established in Gilgit-Baltistan. The environment of unity and brotherhood during Muharram and Ashura gatherings is unparalleled.
Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan chaired the second provincial cabinet meeting. During the meeting, prayers were offered for martyred and the swift recovery of the injured in the terrorist incident in Bajaur Agency.
To assess the damages caused by recent rains and floods in Gilgit-Baltistan, Haji Gulbahar Khan formed a committee at the provincial level to evaluate relief efforts in a transparent manner and ensure that unnecessary burdens on the treasury are avoided.
In the cabinet meeting, the issue of the permanency of judges in Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court was discussed. It was decided that the case would be processed through consultation with the former provincial government, and the Federal Government’s consultation on the appointment of judges would be made mandatory. This measure aims to ensure justice and fairness for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan
The meeting also discussed capital investment for power projects in Gilgit-Baltistan to facilitate investors. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Army Chief, initiatives will be taken to attract investors through the establishment of an Investment Council in Gilgit-Baltistan. In the coming days, the Prime Minister will approve the Power Policy and the PPI (Power Policy Implementation) for Gilgit-Baltistan.
Additionally, the services of NEPRA will be sought to determine tariffs for electricity in Gilgit-Baltistan. To boost confidence in power projects, a special committee has been formed under the leadership of the Provincial Minister for Power, Mushtaq Ahmed, which includes Provincial Minister for Planning, Fatahullah Khan, Provincial Minister for Law, Syed Sahil Abbas, Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Engineer Muhammad Anwar, and Provincial Minister for Finance, Engineer Muhammad Ismail. These ministers will present their recommendations in the upcoming cabinet meeting.
