Azam Swati’s bail application was decided today.

ISLAMABAD: A court in Islamabad will declare on Friday that it has reserved decision on PTI leader Azam Swati’s post-arrest bail appeal in a case involving contentious tweets.
The bail petition of Azam Khan Swati was heard by Special Judge Central Raja Asif Mehmood.
After filing a complaint against him due to the tweets, the FIA’s Cybercrime Wing (CCW) arrested Swati from his house in Islamabad on October 13.
Raja Rizwan Abbasi, the special prosecutor, objected to the court’s jurisdiction at the previous hearing and demanded that this matter be sent to the session court.
According to him, the accused’s tweet contained an offensive remark regarding the leader of a government agency.
He added that the accused had provoked the state institutions in a public forum and that the institution had no bearing on the conclusions made by the courts.
During the investigation, Swati also acknowledged that, according to Abbasi.
At the end of his case, Baber Awan, Swati’s attorney, claimed that his client had exercised his right to free speech in his tweet.
He claimed that while in jail, my client was tortured and degraded.
The court held off making a ruling and postponed the case until today after hearing the arguments.
