Babar and Rizwan break a partnership record in Pakistan vs. England

KARACHI: Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan of India have been eclipsed by Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan as the most successful batting combinations in T20 Internationals.
When Pakistan’s score reached 18 runs in the third over of the 36th inning of the second Twenty20 international match versus England, Babar and Rizwan from Pakistan outscored the Indian partnership, who had amassed 1,743 runs in 52 innings.
They also set a record by being the first batting combination in T20Is to reach 1,800 runs, which is historic.
The Pakistani openers recorded the most over-100 run partnerships of any batting partners in the game’s shortest format, with seven.
India’s KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, who have been teammates for five centuries, are seated next to them.
As Pakistan’s top-order duo, Babar and Rizwan are frequently criticised. The number, however, disputes what is typically held against them. Over 53 runs per inning are scored on average as a team.
They have amassed 1,500+ runs since the beginning of 2021 out of their 1,800 partnership runs. No other hitting partner in this bracket has amassed even 800 runs in tandem.
