Lahore: Bowling coach Waqar Younis has stated that performers of the ongoing National T20 Cup can be tested in the upcoming home series against Zimbabwe.
The 48-year-old, however, emphasized that the team currently consists of many youngsters. ” Misbah (head coach-cum-chief selector) is also thinking that we can try youngsters against Zimbabwe but the current squad have Shaheen Shah, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah who are quite young too,” he said.
“We have kept a close eye on National T20 Cup and if someone from batting or bowling department impresses and is a utility cricketer, he can also be tested,” he added.
Pakistan have to play three ODIs in Multan followed by as many T20Is in Rawalpindi. Waqar thinks that ODI cricket has been affected not only in Pakistan but all over the world due to COVID-19.
“We will have to do extended preparations for the 50-over game. I hope we won’t face much. One-day cricket has suffered due to COVID-19 and we have witnessed a downfall in this format,” he added.
