CABI imparting free training to potato growers

Okara: Center for Agriculture and Biosciences International(CABI) in collaboration with the Potato Research and Development Board has started a project to increase the production of potato.

In the project CABI is not only providing free of cost training to the farmers for using the latest technology but also it is giving information on the tactics of good marketing.

This was told during a briefing in which the agriculture expert from Switzerland Dr. Reni specially participated. Chairman Potato Research and Development Board Chaudhary Maqsood Ahmed told the meeting that his institution has been working since 1979 for the growth of potato.

He said that Okara has big potential for the growth of potato so the city is called the potato core area.

He also introduced Dr. Reni to the Potato Grower Cooperative Society of Pakistan.  Later Dr. Reni visited the research farms.

 Dr. Reni also spoke to the farmers. He said that CABI would take guidance from the experience of potato growers for enhancing potato cultivation.

Deputy Director Agriculture Chaudhary Ijaz, faculty member of Faisalabad Agricultural University Okara Campus Professor Shoaib, Assistant Director Agriculture Dr. Asif, Dr. Mehmood and Hafiz Khurram Maqsood were also present on the occasion.
