Cop killed in Karachi’s DHA

KARACHI: In a tragic incident, a motorist shot and killed a police officer after he reportedly asked about suspicious behaviour late on Monday night in Defence Phase V of the port city.

The suspect has been identified as Khurram Nisar, and his accomplice has been arrested, according to SSP South Asad Raza in a conversation with reporters. The car and weapon that were used in the crime have also been found.

According to the slain officer, Abdul Rehman, and his partner pursued the suspect and spoke to him after apparently spotting some suspicious activities.

When the police attempted to transport the suspect to the police station, SSP Raza claimed that the latter opened fire at the cop, critically wounding him.

He claimed that the suspect attempted to halt a car and had the intention of robbing a woman. The police first claimed that a woman was in the suspect’s automobile. However, authorities have not yet located the woman who was allegedly seen sitting in the suspect’s car.

The SSP reported that the suspect opened fire with two to three shots from inside his vehicle before driving off.

He added that Nisar arrived in Karachi from Sweden on November 5. He stated that the situation has been reported to the airport and highway authorities in order to stop the suspect from trying to flee.

The SSP asked citizens to contact the police if they knew anything about the suspect.

He added that Rehman retaliated by firing at the suspect as well.

Rehman was fatally shot in the head, according to the post-mortem report. According to the police, the 9mm pistol was used to fire the bullet at close range.
