Islamabad: College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) is working in Gilgit–Baltistan (GB) for the last one year with the support of the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) specially brought vision of Barrister Muhammad Khalid khurshid khan, Chief Minister GB in the health sector. Prof. khalid Masud Gondal, President CPSP, Prof. Mohammad Shoaib Shafi, Senior Vice President and all Councils were taken special interest to promote the Post Graduate medical facilities and academic and educational activities in GB which would be great source of encouragement and inspiration for the people of GB. In this result Chief Minister GB had given 2x kanal land for regional Centre GB, CPSP had constructed a building of regional centre with the help of Pak Army within 08 month.
Meanwhile inspection team of seniors doctors of own specialty inspected different hospitals for accreditation which were nominated by GB government. Some hospitals were accredited and 18 Post graduates trainees are training and continuing this process as registered with CPSP.
In the Centre, now workshops for the supervisors and trainees has been started. The on-line exam of different categories of FCPS will also held at the Centre of GB, this year 2023
The inauguration ceremony of CPSP Regional Centre GB was held on 1st May 2023. In this ceremony the honour able Chief Minister Barrister Muhammad khalid khurshid Khan grace the occasion as a chief guest in the presence of President CPSP Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, Prof. Mohammad Shoaib Shafi, Senior Vice President and respected Councils, Chief Minister GB said that this regional Centre will serve as a gateway for the upcoming doctors so they can get their specialization with in the vicinity of GB and can facilitate their services here, Chief Minister GB also announced to allocate 10x kanal land in SKARDU for the construction of CPSP regional Centre. And also signed MOU (Memorandum of understanding) in between Government of GB & CPSP for that land during the inauguration ceremony.
In this ceremony Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, President CPSP also expressed his feeling that this is a memorable day for CPSP and as well people of GB in medical field. He said that this centre will facilitate its doctors so that they can get their Training in own home and the convalescent will get better treatment at their door steps. Prof. Mohammad Shoaib Shafi also thank to Chief Minister for given land in SKARDU and said that Insha’Allah we will construct international standard level auditorium, halls, class rooms where we will arrange International conferences, workshops and examinations. Formal earth breaking ceremony of 10 Kanal land was done by CPSP-team at Skardu.
