Daniel Craig received the same honour from Princess Anne as James Bond.

The prestigious Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George was presented to English actor Daniel Craig by Princess Anne at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, giving him the same royal honour as his popular fictional character James Bond.

In place of her older brother King Charles III, Princess Anne presided over the event on Tuesday morning, October 18, 2022, at Windsor Castle. She was dressed in full military regalia for the occasion.

The sixth-highest among British honours, the Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, or CMG, was established by King George IV in 1818.

The announcement of Craig’s CMG last year was a surprise in the late Queen Elizabeth’s yearly list of New Year Honors.

According to Express UK, “it can also be given to those who have carried out important or loyal service in relation to foreign and Commonwealth affairs.” The honour is reserved for men and women who have provided “extraordinary or important non-military service” to the UK and those who hold high office.
