England defeated Pakistan by 26 runs in the second test match on Monday in Multan to grab a commanding 2-0 series lead.
Pakistan was all out for 328 in the second session on the fourth day of the match, needing 355 to win.
Faheem Ashraf was dismissed earlier in the day after scoring 10 runs. Later, before losing their wickets, Mohammad Nawaz and Saud Shakeel played sensibly and brought the team closer to the mark.
The final person to leave soon before lunch was Saud Shakeel. Many former cricket players, including ex-Pakaistan captain Waqar Younus, criticised the decision to throw him out after scoring 94 runs.
Third-day report
Pakistan finished the third day at 198-4 and still needed 157 runs to win after being given a difficult 355 run target.
England stopped Pakistan’s 66-run start without loss with three wickets taken for just 17 runs, with reverse swing assisting the quick bowlers.
After receiving hamstring treatment, Haq entered the game at number five rather than starting the innings. He smashed seven boundaries.
All-rounder Faheem Ashraf, who was moved up to number six, was still in the game as Pakistan sought to tie the series after falling short in the first of three Test matches by a score of 74 runs in Rawalpindi.
Abrar breaks a record.
Spinner Abrar Ahmed had already taken 11 wickets for 234 over the course of the two innings, which ranks second among Pakistani debutants behind Mohammad Zahid’s 11-130 against New Zealand in Rawalpindi 26 years prior.
