Fear of “deadly” for opening batters Shaheen, formerly an Australian cricketer

KARACHI: According to former Australia cricketer Tom Moody, opening hitters in the current T20 World Cup 2022 would be on the lookout for Pakistan’s top paceman Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Shaheen finished his recuperation in London and then joined the national team in Brisbane. During the Men in Green’s two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in Galle, the left-arm bowler suffered a knee injury.
On Monday, the 22-year-old made his comeback in a warm-up game against England, bowling two overs and allowing just seven runs.
He did, though, regain his rhythm in today’s second warm-up game against Afghanistan, taking two wickets.
Rahmullah Gurbaz was forced to seek medical attention after Shaheen’s inswinging yorker injured his left foot and sent him to the hospital. All of Shaheen’s openers were forewarned by Moody, who said: “That sign there is what opening batsmen in this World Cup will be worrying.”
“Afridi raised his two arms in the air, beaming and confident since he was so effective with the new ball. It was a complete ripper when it was delivered to [Rahmanullah Gurbaz].”
On Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Green Shirts’ Super 12 opener will pit them against their bitter rivals, India.
