ISLAMABAD: Federal government has decided to directly appoint Jusitce Azhar Saleem Babar as the Chief Justice Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court here on Tuesday.
According to detail, the federal government has decided to directly appoint the Chief Justice of AJK Supreme Court to deal with the current judicial crisis in the state. After the retirement of the former Chief Justice Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court, Justice Ibrahim Zia the new Chief Justice could not be appointed even after 8 months. 13th amendment became the reason of delay in the appointment of judges. Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly passed the 14 amendment last week after which the Chairman Kashmir Council has been given the charge of appointing the judges in AJK judiciary. The summaries were forwarded by the President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Masood Khan for appointing Justice Raja Saeed Akram as the Chief Justice AJK Supreme Court and Justice Azhar Saleem Babar as the Chief Justice High Court. But, the appointments could not be made. However, the Federal government has decided to appoint Justice Azhar Saleem Babar as the Chief Justice AJK Supreme Court instead of appointing Justice Raja Saeed Akram.
