Five perish in Dijkot road accidents

Two youths were killed when a truck collided with their motorcycle

Five people including two brothers were killed while two others suffered serious injuries in four road accidents in Dijkot on Sunday.

According to the police officials, a truck collided with motorcyclists identified as 18-year-old Afzal Irfan, 16-year-old Usman Irfan and 15-year-old Ramzan Yaqub near Jhang Road 70 GB Mansooran.

As a result, all three were seriously injured and were being shifted to Allied Hospital in critical condition where two brothers Afzal and Usman succumbed to their injuries.

The driver of the truck fled from the scene. In another incident, the driver of a speeding dumper hit a motorcyclist identified as 38-year-old Samiullah Talib, near the Nalawala bridge on the Expressway. As a result, he died on the spot.

Separately, Arif Kaleemuddin and Sufyan Fayyaz, residents of Mohalla Naseerabad Street No 2 were hit by a speeding truck near Sheikhupura Road Malikpur stop. As a result, Arif died on the spot while Sufyan was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Meanwhile, a speeding wagon crushed motorcyclists 22-year-old Nadir Liaqat and 21-year-old Muhammad Shafqat, a resident of Depalpur Okara, near Satiana Road 33 chak stop.

Shafqat succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Police recovered the bodies of the deceased and handed them over to their relatives after postmortem and started raids to arrest the drivers.
