Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Punjab Regimental Centre Mardan on Thursday and lauded the performance of all ranks, the military’s media wing said.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the army chief was invited as chief guest at the installation ceremony of Colonel Commandant of Punjab Regiment.
On arrival, the COAS laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha on Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
Gen Qamar pinned the badges of rank on the shoulders of Lieutenant General Syed Muhammad Adnan as the 21st Colonel Commandant of Punjab Regiment.
Speaking at the occasion, the COAS lauded the performance of all ranks of the Punjab Regiment during peace and war. He paid rich tribute to the shuhada [martyrs] and their families for their supreme sacrifices.
Gen Qamar appreciated the morale and highest standards of training and operational preparedness of the Punjab Regiment and stressed the need to excel in professional pursuits in line with the latest trends.
Earlier this month, General Qamar encouraged the youth of Balochistan to join law enforcement agencies and contribute towards the security and stability of the area, the ISPR in a statement said.
The COAS had visited Turbat where he was given a detailed briefing on the security situation of Balochistan and border management measures, according to the military’s media wing.
He appreciated the morale and operational preparedness of the troops and expressed satisfaction with successful operations against terrorists.
