Muzaffarabad: Speaker Azad Kashmir Chaudhary Latif Akbar has said that AJK government has not any plan in the pipeline to raise the price of flour. Prime Minister AJK Anwar-ul-Haq Chaudhary has suspended the increase of electricity price.
He was talking to the media here at PID Complex . AJK Ministers Mian Abdul Waheed, Deewan Ali Khan Chugtai, Sardar Javed Latif and MLA Nisar Abbasi were also flanked with him.
The Speaker said that with the efforts of PM AJK , the people would pay their electricity bills at old tariff in AJK.
He said that the Muzaffarabad faced water shortage problem due to Neelum Jhelum project and to fulfil this scarcity 20 cusec of water would be released from Nosehry Dam, from which 50 megawatt of electricity would also be produced.
He said that PM AJK Anwar -ul-Chaudhary is working day and night for resolving the issues of the people. He is holding constant meeting with all stakeholders including high-ups of WAPDA, which is ready to construct water bodies in Muzaffarabad. The people of AJK would feel positive results of PM’s efforts soon.
“We are not against the protests as we see from democratic point of view. The government had successful round of talks with the public action committee. We will make sure the implementation of the Supreme Court’s 2019 verdict of Neelum Jhelum project”, he added.
Latif Akbar said that the work on different development projects including 40-kilometer long pipeline to bring drinking water to the capital Muzaffarabad is going on with good pace.
On the occasion, the Minister of AJK Man Abdul Waheed said that the government has dealt the flour mafia with iron hands. AJK government is giving the subsidy of Rs one billion on the flour. Problems are there by virtue of the difference in the price of flour in public and private sector. There was a suggestion to form the balance between the cost, but PM AJK has refused to increase the price of flour.
He said that the government has made compromise on the development budget for providing relief to the people and increased the salary of the civil employees. The demand to fix the quota of flour according to the papulation is quite appropriate and soon the decision would be made in this regard.
He said that the government of Azad Kashmir is ensuring to prevent the smuggling of flour. The hotels and guest houses should be given flour on the fixed government prices. A system is being introduced to stop the theft of flour in which public representatives of local bodies would be involved. The government would procure more wheat from PASCO to overcome the shortage of flour in AJK.
