According to details, district Administration here in Dir Lower, observed International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25-November. Accordingly it also DEWA, an NPO / NGO organized a one-day seminar on “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women” at Government Girls Degree Colleges, Timergara in collaboration with District Administration and District Youth Office Dir Lower under WVL-P project. The event was facilitated by Dewa Staff, Project Coordinator Miss Nizakat and Miss Noor Bano. Executive Director Miss Najma Falak briefed the participants about the activity. Mrs. Zahra Usman, Principal, Government Girls Degree College, Timergarh, was invited as a special guest and she expressed her views on the occasion. As many as160-students and teachers participated in the seminar, to which speakers of the occasion highlighted in details different issues and problems confronted to women. Speakers emphasized on implementation of laws regarding violence and gender discrimination. They also suggested to place and deployment of female staff specially in Police Stations and insisted for separate counters for women. A specific role play in regard to consequences of violence against women, also presented. On this occasion, participants were told that Islam is the first religion has given rights to women in all areas.
At the last of seminar, Cash prizes and shields and certificates were distributed among the participants, organizers and guests of the seminar.
