“ Islamophobia is a reality” told by Mr. Munir Akram to the UN the 193 member UN Assembly, as the situation was growing. Islamophobia spell out the fear of hatred Muslims of Islam as a religion.
People are afraid of Muslims and rapid spread of Islam as a religion especially in the west and across the world in non-muslim countries. They see muslims and Islam growing threat for them that muslims will dominate them. As a result Muslims are facing onslaught of them in the form of
taunts, hatred, and hostile social environment evident to the world as frequent incidents of physical assaults, verbal abuse and vandalisation of properties like mosques, Islamic centres and schools. Credit goes to Prime Minister of Pakistan who raise the issue first time at UN in 2019 in his
outstanding address to United Nations General Assembly. After two years of constant efforts and serious follow up UN General Assembly accepted Prime Minster’s stance on Islamophobia. UNGA has adopted landmark resolution and declared 15 th March as ‘International Day to combat
Islamophobia’. Resolution was not supported by OIC members only but by Russia and China as well. The demeanour of Prime Minister of Pakistan while addressing UNGA on Islamophobia was heroic. The way he recited “Kalma Tayyba” his gallant manner gave goosebumps to the muslims
across the globe. His bold and valiant conduct at UNGA is was reflection of his heart filled with love and faith in Allah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). No other leader of the Muslim world but only Prime Minister of Pakistan highlighted and fought the case of muslims at UNGA with great
courage. British MP Naz Shah quoted Bernard shah’s saying about Prophet Muhammad that says “He was by far the most remarkable man that ever set foot on earth. He preached a religion, founded a region and laid down a moral code, initiated social and political reforms, established a
powerful and dynamic society to practice his teachings and completely revolutionised the world of human thinking and behaviour for all times to come”. Islamophobia has spread across the globe, Prime Minister Imran Khan explained on behalf of muslim community how painful it is to see
offensive caricatures intend to insult our beloved prophet (PBUH) and it is hurting emotions of 1.3 billion muslims worldwide. State level involvement regarding ban on hijab in France, Switzerland and Australia is a sheer hypocrisy of liberal democracies. Kashmir has been made hotspot for
Islamophobia, Palestinian muslims were attacked while offering prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque the champions of civil rights never paid heed to their misery. This is verge of inhumanity. Muslims are losing their lives just because of their faith and love for their religion and Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) which few segments in western society deem threat to western civilization. Islam is such a peaceful religion that there are certain examples where individuals who were involved in so-called
“war on terror” later turned to Islam and became Muslims. The never ending struggle of our Prime minister must be appreciated. His brave and courageous address at UNGA is lesson for all muslims to follow their faith and raise our voices against injustice being committed without any fear.
