Islamabad: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haque met with the newly elected Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan, and Secretary General Raja Jahangir at Kashmir House in Islamabad

Prime Minister Anwarul Haque congratulated Dr. Mushtaq on his appointment as the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, and Secretary General Raja Jahangir on his election. He expressed hope that under their leadership, the party would play a vital role in the welfare and prosperity of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Both leaders strongly condemned the severe human rights violations by India in the occupied Kashmir region. They criticized the Indian government for its large-scale human rights abuses in the occupied Kashmir and its mistreatment of minorities within India, such as the recent desecration of Christian places of worship and homes in Punjab, which has exposed India’s claims of being the world’s largest democracy and a secular state.

They emphasized the need for unity among Kashmiris and the international community to expose the atrocities committed by the Indian military in the occupied region and stand in solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people. They urged the international community to take note of the dire situation in occupied Kashmir and support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

Apart from discussing matters of mutual interest, the meeting also fostered a sense of camaraderie between the leaders, furthering the cause of advocating for the rights of Kashmiris and highlighting the grave human rights situation in the region.
