Kashmir problem is still on UN’s agenda : Dr Sajjad

Muzaffarabad: Director of Kashmir Policy Research Institute, Dr. Raja Mohammad Sajjad Khan, has said that the issue of Kashmir is based on United Nations resolutions as India unlawfully occupied Kashmir.

Dr. Raja Mohammad Sajjad Khan expressed these views while briefing a delegation of Islamabad’s Studies Training Institute and officers undergoing training at the Punjab Local Government Academy on the Kashmir issue.

The people of Kashmir have not accepted India’s illegal occupation. India has abrogated Article 370 and 35A, which pertained to the special status of occupied Kashmir, is a violation of UN resolutions and international laws. Article 370 and 35A provided protection to the identity, culture, and population of Kashmir in the Indian Constitution.

India is engaged in efforts to change the identity of Kashmir and the Muslim majority into a minority. Although India has illegally abolished these articles, it does not change the constitutional and legal status of the Kashmir issue.

He said that the issue of Kashmir exists in the UN Charter, India has deployed a large number of troops in Kashmir to maintain its forced occupation. Indian occupied Kashmir is the world’s largest military zone, where one soldier is deployed on every seven civilians.

The struggle of Kashmiris for freedom is in accordance with the UN Charter.

Dr. Raja Mohammad Sajjad Khan said that India had imposed a complete siege on occupied Kashmir before the action of August 5, 2019, and this siege continued for several months. During this period, a complete ban was imposed on media, social media, newspapers, and writings and speeches regarding Kashmir.
