Renowned journalist and analyst Khawaja Kashif Mir has been appointed as the press secretary to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan on Friday.
A notification to this effect was issued by the Services and General Administration Department. Mr Kashif Mir, who hails from Chack Dhamni area of Rawalakot, has earned a master’s degree in mass communications and possesses vast work experience in regional and national print and electronic media.
A member of the National Press Club Islamabad and an ex-chairman of its digital committee, Mr Mir is also an active member of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad based Kashmir Journalists Forum and Muzaffarabad based Capital Journalists Forum.
Associated with State Views Media Group as managing editor for the past few years, he has also been appearing as an analyst on various Indian TV channels, where he would effectively represent the national narrative of Pakistan and Kashmiris, expose flagrant human rights violations in India occupied Kashmir and highlight the internationally acknowledged right to self-determination of Kashmiri people. Journalists community leaders across AJK as well as in the twin cities welcomed the appointment of Mr Mir against a key position in the AJK premier’s media team that had been lying vacant since the installation of Mr Ilyas in April last year.
