Legal fraternity may help govt in bringing good governance : PM AJK

Islamabad: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq has said that lawyers should become his hands and arms in implementing the initiatives of good governance in AJK.

He was speaking to  the delegation of lawyers which called on him at Kashmir House here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Member of  Legislative Assembly, Nabeela Ayub. Other members of the delegation were Vice Chairman of the Bar Council Muhammad Nadeem Khan, Muhammad Tariq Bashir, Chaudhry Yasir Mahmood and Chaudhry Wasim Sabir.

PM AJK said that without a strong system of check and balance, the government cannot move forward.

He said that as long as he is in the office of Prime Minister, he will remain committed to serving the people and working day and night for that purpose.

“We need to create a balance in rights and responsibilities from the perspective of responsible citizens of the state. Budgets will bring significant improvements in the fields of education, health, tourism, livestock, and information technology”, he added.

He said that priority is given to the industrial sector and efforts are being made to elevate it so that the people of the state can benefit from it. He told the delegation that he does not believe in protocol as all the citizens of the state are equal. He said that the prime minister is also accountable to the people. He said that we need to follow the book, subjective interpretations of the law cannot be allowed. These subjective interpretations have damaged the system. He said that assets should be declared to benefit the people.

He advised the lawyers to become a guarantee of the implementation of the law in the state and assured them of his trust in the context of good governance.

He said that one should be a trained and educated politician. No one is indispensable for any system. The graveyards are filled with indispensable people. Everyone should work hard and diligently.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman of the Bar Council, Muhammad Nadeem Khan, appreciated the Prime Minister’s initiatives of Good Governance and expressed good wishes for their success.
