President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir , Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary has said he has fulfilled his promise by holding the local bodies polls in AJK.
He was talking to the newly elected Chairman District Council Mirpur Raja Naveed Akhtar, allies of Goga , who called on him at Kashmir House on Tuesday.
The President said that now the power would be devalued at grass root level in Azad Kashmir and it is up to the elected representatives of the people to resolve their problems at their threshold by keeping all the prejudices and discriminations at bay.
“When I took the oath of the President of AJK , I made the pledge that I will hold local bodies elections in the state and now I have realized my promise”, Barrister Sultan added.
He said that Raja Naveed Goga would be the first ever chairman in the history of District Council Mirpur, who was elected unopposed. Now it is the demand of the people of Mirpur that he would work for their welfare and mitigate their sufferings by serving them in his best capacity .
He felicitated Raja Naveed on emerging victorious in local bodies elections.
