Medias’ role crucial for development: PM AJK

Islamabad: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhary Anwar-ul-Haq, underscored the indispensable role of media in the progress of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed these views in a meeting with Amjad Chaudhry, President All Kashmir Newspapers Society (AKNS) here on Friday.
Chaudhary Anwar-ul-Haq praised the media’s evolution, recognizing its amplified role in delivering news, information, and content expeditiously to the public. The Prime Minister highlighted the instrumental contributions of digital and social media in connecting communities and facilitating the rapid dissemination of information.
Acknowledging the synergy of electronic and print media in the nation’s advancement, Chaudhary Anwar-ul-Haq lauded the positive influence of electronic media on information access and exchange. This, he noted, has led to notable progress in education, research, and commerce.
Turning attention to the ongoing freedom movement in Kashmir, the Prime Minister called upon the print media in Azad Kashmir to align itself with the cause. He stressed that the movement for freedom is a shared responsibility, necessitating collective efforts for its fulfilment.
In outlining his government’s vision, Chaudhary Anwar-ul-Haq emphasized the need to fortify institutions, streamline bureaucracy, and make it more responsive to the citizens. He encouraged the media to play a supportive role in this transformation, advocating for responsible journalism and sensible editing to maintain high journalistic standards.
Expressing optimism about the future, the Prime Minister commended the establishment of an impartial Public Service Commission, assuring the youth that their aspirations would be met. He pledged government support for newspapers and electronic media, revealing ongoing efforts to formulate policies that will benefit both.
