NATIONAL DIALOGUE – TO ERADICATE ENGINEERS’ UNEMPLOYMENT THROUGH ENTREPRENEURIAL SETTING HELD

Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) with its mandate of regulating quality of
engineering education and practice of engineering, is functioning as a key driving force
for achieving rapid and sustainable growth in all national, economic, and social fields.
Before entering into policy making and designing activities for concerned audiences, it is
always a good idea to seek direction from real stakeholders, listening to affectees of the
existing system and policies, thus getting better suggestions and fruitful deliberations on
realistic solutions to be implemented. For the purpose, PEC Innovation &
Entrepreneurship Committee (ICE) is holding “National Dialogue – to Eradicate
Engineers’ Unemployment through Entrepreneurial Settings” on 28-29 July 2022 at
Best Western Hotel, Islamabad. It’s planned to be an event to provide platform from all
sectors of engineering graduates (employed, unemployed, self-employed, employers
etc.). The nominations for the event are sought from Vice Chairmen of all provinces
(Engr Prof Dr Niaz Akhtar, Engr Mukhtiar Ali Shaikh, Engr Aijaz Hussain Ansari, and
Engr Nasir Majeed) including CT, AJK & GB. Each group shall present provincial
recommendations for the issue followed by inter-provincial discussions. The discussions
shall be concluded as recommendations to be presented at the Closing Ceremony in
front of all PEC Vice Chairmen, Chairman PEC Engr Muhammad Najeeb Haroon,
Convener Innovation & Entrepreneurship Committee Engr Prof Dr Samreen Hussain, as
well as Convener of relevant Committees of PEC and concerned Ministry(ies).
Innovation & Entrepreneurship Committee shall make efforts to design and plan future
activities in line with the recommendations received at the end of event thereby making
the role of Committee more relevant, effective and owned by all stakeholders. The event
pronouncement would encompass policy recommendations and a way forward to
eradicate engineers’ unemployment as well as enhancing their skill-set for contribution
in the National development as major operators of economic engine of the country.
