Islamabad: The threat of a cyclonic Biperjoy storm is entering in coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan Federal Secretary of Communications and Chairman of the National Highway Authority, Captain (Retd) Muhammad Khurram Agha, reached Quetta and held an emergency meeting with the NHA officials. Subsequently, they assessed all the arrangements .
It is evident that there is an increased risk of intensification in the cyclonic storm Baypar in Karachi, and at any time, certain areas of Balochistan could be affected. In reference to this, on the special directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Federal Minister for Communications, the Federal Secretary of Communications and Chairman of the NHA immediately reached Quetta, where the NHA members from Balochistan, Shahid Ahsanullah, briefed them that all necessary machinery and personnel have been deployed at critical locations, ready to handle any emergency. They stated that the damaged road caused by the recent landslides in Danna Sir has been restored for traffic, and they are in contact with the Meteorological Department to stay updated on the latest weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the Federal Secretary of Communications and Chairman of the NHA, after reviewing the emergency meeting and all arrangements, issued instructions to the relevant authorities and personnel of the NHA to ensure the national highways are kept operational at all costs during the potential cyclonic storm, and timely resolution of public complaints. No compromise will be tolerated in this regard.
The spokesperson of the NHA has warned those traveling on national highways to avoid sensitive areas according to the current situation. However, when undertaking essential travel, they should stay informed about the weather conditions and the latest updates on the storm.
