Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif retaliated against US President Joe Biden after the latter referred to Pakistan as “one of the most dangerous nations in the world” and cast doubt on its nuclear security.
PM Shehbaz “unequivocally underlined” in a tweet sent on Saturday from his Twitter account that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state and that its nuclear assets are protected to the highest standards possible in accordance with IAEA regulations.
“These safety precautions are taken very seriously by us. No one should ever be in any doubt, he stressed.
Premier Shehbaz referred to the US president’s remarks as “factually inaccurate and deceptive” in a separate statement released by the PM House.
“Over the last decades, Pakistan has established itself as a very responsible nuclear state, with a technically competent and impenetrable command and control apparatus to oversee its nuclear programme.”
The statement further stated that Pakistan has consistently shown responsible stewardship of its nuclear weapons capacity, as evidenced by a strong adherence to international norms, especially those of the IAEA on non-proliferation, safety, and security.
The introduction of new security measures that upset regional balance and ultranationalism, in the opinion of PM Shehbaz, are the real threats to international peace and security. These threats also include violations of human rights in areas that are fighting against illegal occupation, some states’ flagrant disregard for international law, recurrent incidents involving nuclear security, and the arms race between the leading nuclear weapon states.
“Friendly and fruitful relations between Pakistan and the US date back a long way. It is vitally crucial that sincere and long-lasting efforts are made to recognise the true potential of Pakistan-US ties while avoiding superfluous remarks at a time when the world is faced with significant global issues. We sincerely hope to work with the US to advance regional security and peace, the prime minister was reported as adding.
According to President Biden, Pakistan may be “one of the most dangerous countries in the world” because of its “nuclear weapons without any cohesiveness.”
“And Pakistan, which I consider to be among the most dangerous countries in the world. A copy of the speech, which was made available on the White House website, cited Biden as saying, “Nuclear weapons without any cohesiveness.”
In his remarks, Vice President Biden discussed how the geopolitical landscape was shifting around the world and how nations were reevaluating their ties in light of the quickening pace of change.
“And the reality is, I honestly think that the rest of the world is looking to us. Not a joke. Even our adversaries are trying to figure out how we do this and what we do, he continued.
President Biden did not make any new comments about Pakistan’s nuclear security, according to the White House press secretary, as reported by Daily Mail reporter Rob Crilly.
According to White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre, “the president regards a secure and thriving Pakistan as essential to US interests.”
