The election whistle for election has been blown in the country as the train is just to leave the platform but this time the people are watching something different from the past polls.
This time, one side’s largest opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, was jolted so badly, by throwing the entire debris of 9th May fiasco on it, that many leaders were forced to leave either PTI or even the profession of politics. On the other hand, many new political parties came into being from the left over of the Tehreek-i-Insaf.
First of all, a political party with the name Istehkam -i-Pakistan Party was formed by the leaders who left PTI either on the voice of conscience or some external pressure by taking the plea of condemning the 9th May hubbub.
But the newly formed party could not win the encouragement among the people. Then another party was formed by some close aide of former Prime Minister Imran Khan with the name PTI Parliamentarian. Although it is a few days older, it could not take “first flight “after its birth in a befitting manner.
The challenging era through which PTI is passing through at present, almost all the major political parties including PML(N) and PPP had to face the same circumstances in the past. But the difference between the current scenario and past incidents like this, was that earlier the political parties faced a similar situation in the time of tyranny, but PTI is the first party which is undergoing the dire consequences during the period when the democratic rule was in the country.
Wear and tear of the political parties is not a new phenomenon in Pakistan. Rather it takes place before every general election, but this time, when we are living in the era of social media, an impression was created that the things are taking place in an unnatural manner.
But if we look at the political history of the country, whether it was PML(N), PPP, MQM or NAP. Not even a single party could be broken down forever though it went down for some time but it rose again with reborn strength.
The political parties are confronting the process of attrition within themselves after every five years as the few old birds fly to other branches leaving behind the previous tree, can be prevented only in the compliance of the law. If every institution of the country could make its way within its sphere, which the constitution allows them, then this routine could be changed.
Now it is up to the people, that they should behave prudently and make decision at the time when they would be going to stamp the ballot paper, that they should reject so called “electable elements”, who have made changing of their loyalties at every time, a profitable business.
This time, it is necessary that the people may vote to their favorite party, but keeping in view one thing that they should elect only those who adhered the principles and remained stuck to their party, without observing good and bad times, or else they would be on the mercy of few bad politicians forever, who cannot turn into a good leaders at any cost.
