ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday ordered 24-hour monitoring of flood-affected areas and a 48-hour situation report on rescue and relief efforts, including payment of funds to flood victims and rehabilitation measures taken in Balochistan.
The Prime Minister instructed the relevant authorities to speed up the distribution of relief funds in Balochistan, particularly in the Bolan, Quetta, Zhob, Dakki, Khuzdar, Kohlu, Kech, Mastung, Harnai, Qila Saifullah and Sibbi regions.
He also directed to speed up relief and rehabilitation efforts in flood-affected areas of Sindh, K-P and Punjab.
“The people affected are looking to the government to alleviate their suffering and stress, any negligence in the supply of food, medicine and shelter will not be tolerated,” the prime minister said.
He stressed broadening a uniform level of facilitation to flood victims across the country and ordered the provision of proper sanitation, sanitation and fumigation in flood-affected areas to prevent the spread of diseases, and the provision of clean drinking water to control stomach ailments.
“Food, health camps and shelter arrangements have been made in the flood-affected areas of Balochistan,” a report sent to the prime minister by the relevant authorities stated.
While aid activities are increased in cooperation with the Balochistan provincial government, studies continue in other provinces with the cooperation of the relevant provincial governments.
