Swat: The rickshaw drivers organized a protest rally against unnecessary challans and bad behavior of traffic police to them.
The protesters raised slogans against the corruption of the police department. They slung bread around their necks.
The Vice President of Ittefaq Rickshaw Driver’s Union Zia-ur-Rehman Yousafzai has said that they have been fed up with the excessive challan by the traffic police.
“Our children are victims of starvation and are alluring for bread. Rickshaw drivers are eating bread for their children but traffic police is busy in carrying out the undue challans at every road of the city”, he added
He said that police officials after doing the challan, seized the rickshaws in different police stations for two or three days, which is the last limit of ruthlessness.
Other leaders of the union including Noor Alam, Sabaz Ali and Sami Ullah said on the occasion that law should be the same for all. If car owners park their vehicles in the market, then there is no one to stop them and if a rickshaw is parked there even for a minute, the police give them a challan token.
