Russian Oil

Russian oil is not important just to run the wheel in Pakistan, but it is also playing a decisive role in running the economy of the country in the current time. Its role is also not confided to economy, but it is also playing an important role in the politics of the country. It was the Russian oil which ousted the former Prime Minister Imran Khan, and again it is the Russian which is facilitating the new government in the country.
Pakistan and Russia are coming closer to each other. Russia is very important for Pakistan currently when it is facing worst economic conditions. The deals with Russia in various fields are under the discussion which can help country in tackling the economic downfall. Besides oil, both the countries are also working to cooperate with each other in other fields. Minister of State (Petroleum Division) Musadik Malik Monday said Russia had agreed to provide crude oil as well as petrol and diesel to Pakistan at discounted rates. “Our visit to Russia turned out to be more productive than expected,” Malik said addressing a press conference after the return of the Pakistani delegation from Russia, adding that a Russian delegation would also visit Pakistan next month. A Pakistani delegation comprising State Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik, Secretary Petroleum Capt (retd) Muhammad Mahmood, Joint Secretary and officials of the petroleum division was in Moscow to explore possibilities of buying Russian crude oil and other petroleum products at discounted rates.
Pakistan is currently being ruled by a union of more than 13 political parties. When these political parties were sitting on opposition benches in the Assembly during the tenure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) they were of the view that pursuing relations with Russia would hurt the sentiments of America. Then Prime Minister Imran Khan was trying to get assistance from Russia to provide relief to nation regarding petroleum products. Imran Khan was working on policy of getting cheaper petrol from Russia to maintain the low prices in the country while considering the purchasing power of the masses. But, these political parties stood against him and started chanting the slogans that Imran Khan is going against the US by taking this step. They started campaign against Imran Khan and succeeded in sending him home. After the downfall of Imran Khan’s government the new government kept on increasing the prices of petroleum products. Resultantly, skyrocketing inflation hit the country badly. Now, when the situation has been worsened to a drastic level, then the same political parties which ousted Imran Khan for pursuing relations with Russia are proudly telling the nation that they are going to get oil and other assistance from Russia.
The incumbent government in Pakistan is going to take the same step which was being taken by the former PM Imran Khan 07 months ago. At that time these parties opposed the decision of Imran Khan. But, after ousting him these parties are going to do the same thing, but now the country has suffered as the decision has been delayed for 07 months. There is dire need of such a system where such tactics should be handled strictly. Strict action should be taken against those who are responsible for delaying this decision for 07 months.
