SC demands Imran Khan provide an explanation for the events of May 25.

The Supreme Court has ordered PTI Chairman Imran Khan to explain the events of May 25, 2022, in light of the government’s claim that the former prime minister was in contempt of court.
During the PTI’s protracted march on May 25, Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial questioned the circumstances underlying the delivery of legal orders to the PTI chair.
Regarding Khan’s party’s lengthy march to Islamabad, the federal government accused him of being in contempt of court.
Imran Khan is allegedly making announcements to attack Islamabad, according to the government’s plea, which it argues is a violation of a court injunction. The PTI leader was tasked with making sure that the Supreme Court’s instructions regarding protests and sit-ins were carried out, the petition pleaded with the court to tell him to do so.
SC Bar Association President Ahsan Bhoon appeared in court as a five-member bench led by CJP Umar Ata Bandial heard the case.
Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhry, PTI attorneys who had received notifications, are being represented by Bhoon, who disclosed this to the court.
CJP Bandial said that the court simply requested responses from the two attorneys and that no notices had really been served. He stated that after hearing the government’s attorney’s arguments, the court will review the responses.
Imran Khan has requested time for a thorough rebuttal, according to Additional Attorney General Amir Rehman, who made this claim at the hearing.
Khan had pledged a guarantee, but he had indicated he was ignorant of it or of any court orders, the man claimed.
CJP Bandial then enquired as to why there was a disparity in time between the court’s first and second orders on May 25.
The CJP said that the period between the two orders was for taking instructions when the extra attorney general responded. He continued by saying that the court was not made aware of the source of the instructions.
Rehman then informed the court that Faisal Chaudhry had said that Asad Umar had given the orders since he was unable to speak with Khan.
CJP Bandial questioned why the court wasn’t notified if somebody couldn’t be reached.
“This requires explanation. Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhry have earned the trust of the court. None of them claimed to have missed the instructions “said CJP Bandial.
Imran Khan must have known about the court ruling, Justice Umar Ata Bandial noted.
According to him, Imran Khan is the first person to have received the promise from the PTI leadership. He continued, “Imran Khan asked for time for a thorough response.
Imran Khan was asked by the court to give a statement regarding the events of May 25.
