Science, technology vital factor in modern world: Governor Punjab

Lahore: Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman attended the STEM Ambassador Program under the auspices of Pakistan Engineering Council at Lahore College for Women University as a special guest. Vice Chancellor Lahore College for Women University Dr. Shagufta Naz, Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council Najeeb Haroon, Convener Pakistan Engineering Council Development Committee Engineer Mir Masood Rashid, Former Member Provincial Assembly Sania Kamran, Deans, academicians and a large number of students were present.

Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman said that Pakistan Engineering Council is playing an important role in national development. He said that the Pakistan Engineering Council’s Graduate Internship Program is providing students with quality work experience, which is not only an investment in the future but also a valuable contribution to the development of the engineering sector. The Punjab Governor said that the importance of science and technology is a vital factor in modern the world. While appreciating the STEM initiative of PEC, he said that arranging activities in various educational institutions for the promotion of scientific studies among the youth under STEM is commendable. He said that this program will help universities and schools to work together and impart science education to the children. It will definitely help in increasing the trend of STEM education, he added.

Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman said that it is very important to empower women for the development of the country. He said that women are working side by side with men in every field, including engineering. He said that their encouragement is very important to increase the representation of women in various fields. He said that the task of educational institutions is to cultivate analytical and research skills in students. Governor Punjab further said that as Chancellor, he has formed a consortium on technology in the universities. He urged the students to inculcate the habit of researching everything and especially before forwarding any post on social media. Governor Punjab said that youth should adopt positive thinking. He said that the youth should learn technology and science so that they can contribute to the development of the country. At the end of the ceremony, Governor Punjab distributed certificates among the position holder school children in speech competition under STEM program.
