Station Commander Muzaffarabad visits ESMA

 

Muzaffarabad: The agriculture department of AJK is holding weekly meetings with the farmers to train them as well as to know their problems.

This was told by the Secretary Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation during the briefing at the visit of Station Commander Muzaffarabad Brig Ameer Nawaz Khan to Extension Services Management Academy (ESMA) Garhi Dupata.

The Secretary briefed the visiting guest about the performance, ongoing projects and future planning of ESMA.

The Secretary said in his briefing that the Agriculture Department is making all efforts for the food security in AJK.

“Our focus is to prepare a trained workforce. In this connection some 100,000 farmers have been trained in almost 9731weekly 40 meetings’ ‘, he added.

He said that different areas have been identified for the cultivation of fruit and vegetables separately. He said that the Livestock Department is working to realize the local demand for poultry. Moreover, a project is started to diagnose the diseases of the animals. Another project commenced with the collaboration of the federal government to convey the maximum amount of irrigation water to every area of AJK by making water channels.

Later Brig Ameer Nawaz Khan planted a sapling in the lawn of the academy.

On the occasion Director General ESMA Sardar Gulzar, DG Irrigation Tariq Mehmood and other civil and military officials were also present.
