Irfan Pathan, a former cricketer for India, has recently been under fire for making a joke about the Pakistani cricket squad at the current T20 World Cup in Australia.
When Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets on Wednesday, securing a spot in the tournament’s championship match, Pathan took to Twitter to lament the team’s “gracelessness” despite Pakistan’s victory.
Neighbors, winning or losing is part of the game but keeping grace is not your cup of tea, the cricketer informed the Men in Green. “Padosiyon jeet ati jaati rehti hai, lekin GRACE apke bas ki baat nahi hai.”
Many people criticised the message, and Pakistani fans criticised him for his “immaturity.”
Irfan tweeted again and provided clarification after getting criticism: “Additionally, the footballer is not the target of this. NEVER.”
However, Pakistani cricket supporters, who had already been miffed by Pathan’s snarky tweets, wasted no time in trolling the 38-year-old star online when England thrashed India on Thursday by a score of 10 wickets.
