MUZAFFARABAD: The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir declared Telenor, a cellular company, as tax defaulter after serving the notice of more than Rs 2.85 billion here on Tuesday.
According to detail, the department of Inland Revenue Department Azad Jammu and Kashmir served the recovery notice of more than Rs 2.85 billion. Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue, Syed Ansar Ali served the notice to company after doing audit. Company made an appeal on concerned forum against the decision of Inland department. The concerned forum rejected the appeal of Telenor and restored the imposed tax by the Inland Revenue department.
Prior to this, Telenor challenged the jurisdiction of the department of Inland Revenue for doing audit of the company in High Court in 2017. But the High Court announced decision in the favor of the department of Inland and announced that Telenor cannot work in the state without paying tax.
