Pakistan has a principal stand on accepting Israel as state that before making diplomatic ties with her, the solution of the Philistine issue should be resolved peacefully according to two state theory.
Now it is very much likely that Israel may break a US backed deal with Saudi Arabia in the coming days. In this connection the Israeli foreign minister has revealed that some six or seven Muslim countries hailed from Africa and Asia may also be inked for the same kind of peace agreement but he denied to express the names of these states.
Nowadays, Pakistani caretaker ministers are constantly speaking on the relations with Israel. In this regard first the caretaker foreign minister gave a statement, then the information minister also articulated the relations with Israel.
With the regular accounts from the people being at the helm of affairs in relation with Israel has put the nation in ambiguity over whether the interim government is moving slowly towards accepting Israel. It creates some doubt that either Pakistan is among those states, which the Israeli minister talked about. Are the members of the cabinet testing the nerves of the nation as they are watching for a response by the people.
It is an immaculate element of Pakistan’s foreign policy that without giving the right of independent state to the Philistines, Pakistan would not accept Israel.
It is the historical fact that in the beginning Pakistan’s first Foreign Minister Sir Zafar Ullah Khan floated a suggestion in the cabinet meeting to build terms with Israel but when the founder of the country Quaid-i-Azam came to know about it, he called Zafar to his office and snubbed him. On the occasion, Quaid gave clear-cut future guidelines to the foreign office that Pakistan would not make any kind of relations with Israel in any case, until and unless Philistine is freed.
In the past, some newsflashes about some clandestine contacts between Israel and Pakistan reached the public in different eras but these were not confirmed by the official sources.
Some elements have a viewpoint that Pakistan has not any direct enmity with Israel so if the Arab countries would accept Israel, then there is no harm in building ties with her. But if the country would follow this stance it will be a deviation from the Philistine cause.
The people of Pakistan have made up their minds right from the beginning that Israel is an oppressor state which is subjecting Philistines to torture by snatching away their land and right of liberty.
Some parts of the media are also busy in mind making the people to craft diplomatic relations with Israel, but the people in majority would not agree to any efforts to accept Israel.
If the caretaker government would go beyond its legal framework of holding free fair and impartial elections in the country, but if they allow Israel to open its embassy in Islamabad or counsel office in any other part of the country, that would instigate the people’s sentiments and they, especially religious segments of the society would be on the streets to express their anger.
The interim government may restrain its job of holding elections only and leave the important decision to take volte-face in the foreign policy of Pakistan on the next elected government, or else the whole country would be the epicenter of the protest demonstrations, which will definitely not only deteriorate the law and order situation but also the level of mayhem and chaos would go up in the country.
