The New York state attorney general filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump and his adult children on Wednesday as part of a civil investigation into the former U.S. president’s business practises, according to court documents. The Trump Organization was accused of malfeasance in the case, which was filed in a Manhattan state court, for failing to properly prepare Trump’s yearly financial status reports from 2011 to 2021. Also named as defendants were the Trump Organization, Donald Trump Jr., and Ivanka Trump, the former president’s daughter.
According to Attorney General Letitia James, Donald Trump and the Trump Organization overstated the worth of their real estate holdings in order to qualify for advantageous loans and tax advantages. James said in a statement that Donald Trump “falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself and scam the system with the assistance of his children and key officials at the Trump Organisation.”
