VC UAJK urges people to support educational institutes

Muzaffarabad: Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has said that it is the duty of entire society to strengthen the educational institutions.

He was addressing a special gathering at the annual ceremony of the Guardians, an organization working for the promotion of education and welfare of deserving students. The Guardians provide assistance to underprivileged students in terms of their well-being, academic progress, and financial support.
In his speech, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kaleem Abbasi said that in the past few years, the University of Kashmir has made significant progress in introducing institutional reforms and enhancing the necessary infrastructure to become an institution of higher education.
He said that some elements seeking personal gains have baselessly and maliciously tried to tarnish the image of the university by making unfounded allegations and creating unrest within the administrative hierarchy.
He said that the whole administration, which has tirelessly worked as a team towards establishing the university as a model institution in recent years, has not tolerated any minute setbacks.
VC said that it is the social responsibility of conscientious citizens to come forward against negative forces that hinder national interests and contribute to the establishment of a standard education and research institution for future generations in the state. He stated that it is the responsibility of every education-friendly citizen, and if we neglect our responsibilities, future generations will not forgive us. Dr. Abbasi mentioned that the recognition of the university’s educational effectiveness is not only at the level of Azad Kashmir but also at the national level.
“This was evident from the recent award of the Education Excellence by President of Pakistan to the University of Kashmir. Furthermore, the University of Kashmir stands out among all government-established universities in Azad Kashmir in terms of individuality”, he added.
Commending the efforts of the Student Welfare Organization Guardians, Professor Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi assured the organization that along with his ongoing commitments, he will also create awareness among students about the scholarship opportunities provided by the University of Kashmir.
He pledged full cooperation with the organization and assured that he will personally oversee its operations. On this occasion, a documentary film highlighting the significant achievements of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was also screened.
