World Cup T20 match between New Zealand and Afghanistan is postponed

MELBOURNE: On Wednesday, the T20 World Cup match between New Zealand and Afghanistan was called off due to rain before a ball was ever bowled at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
After Ireland defeated England by five runs in a first game that was cut short by rain at the same venue, both sides gain one point, widening the gap in Group 1.
Last week, New Zealand defeated Australia in their tournament opener, while Afghanistan was defeated by England in their opening game.
With South Africa and Zimbabwe leaving Group 2 on Monday, the tournament had its first washout.
