Mental health problems, also called Mental Health Disorders, refers to a wide range of mental health conditions, disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorder and addictive behaviors.
Many people have mental health concerns from time to time. But a mental health concern becomes a mental illness when ongoing signs and symptoms causes frequent stress and affect your ability to function.
A mental illness can make your miserable and at school or work or in relationship. In most cases, symptoms can be managed with a combination of medications and talk therapy.
Anxiety disorder affect approximately 40 million American adults age 18 years and older each year. Anxiety disorders are a form of men tallness that causes people to experience distressing and frequent bouts of fear and apprehension. Many will experience these feelings when periodically doing things like public speaking or a job interview. Those with anxiety disorders experience these feelings frequently, and for an extended period six month or more.
The most common symptoms of anxiety disorders include panic attack, compulsive disorder, post traumatic disorder, social phobia.
Schizophrenia is a serious brain disorder that is marked by significant changes and disruption in both cognitive and emotional function. Schizophrenia has an effect on the most basic human aspects of life.
The most common symptoms of schizophrenia include, Hearing voices, Hallucinations, Delusions, Abnormal reasoning.
Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression affect how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problem. Depression may require long-term treatment. But do not get discouraged. Most people with depression feel better with medication, psychotherapy or both.
The most common symptoms of depression include, sadness, hopelessness, irritation, sleep disturbance, tiredness, unexplained physical problems, suicide attempts.
Mood disorder, people may also refer to mood disorders as affective disorder. People with these conditions have significant changes in mood, generally involving either mania, which is a period of high energy and elation or a depression.
The most common symptoms of mood disorders include, irritability, anxious mood, changes in sleep patterns, changes in weight.
Mental Health problems is occur in all over world. in some countries mental health disorders spread more fastly. There are some countries in which mental health disorders are main problem. CHINA, U.S., and INDIA are the countries in which mental health disorders are main issue.
CHINA leads in various categories track by the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION.
U.S is one of the most depressed countries in the world, according to the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION.
INDIA, CHINA, and U.S are also affected by anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder according to WHO.
PAKISTAN like many countries has a higher prevalence of depression due to current social adversities. The common mental illness is highly prevalent with reported prevalence of depression, schizophrenia, and epilepsy in Pakistan.
Mental Health Disorders are treated by Psychotherapy. Psychotherapy is the therapeutic treatment of mental illness provided by a trained mental health professional. In Medication, Hospitalization, Support group, Alternative medicine, Self-help pain, Peer support.
Antidepressants are used to treat depression, anxiety, and sometimes other conditions. Anti-anxiety medications, Mood-stabilizing medications, Antipsychotic medications.
In Pakistan, there are 400 qualified psychiatrists working in all over country. Most of psychiatrists are working in urban cities although the posts of district psychiatrists have also been created throughout the country.
WHO Mental Health reported that there were only four big psychiatric hospitals in the country, with 344 residential care facilities and 654 psychiatric units in general hospitals. In all over the world, the countries celebrate WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY
