ISLAMABAD: At the time when the world grappled with the deadly Coronavirus and subsequently started releasing prisoners in huge numbers to contain the spread of the virus.

The fascist Indian government, contrary to the world’s norms, refused to release thousands of Kashmiri detainees including Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik despite his critical health condition.Mushaal Hussein Mullick, wife of Yasin Malik, expressed these views in her statement issued here on Sunday. She said that Yasin was taken into custody by Indian forces in February 2019 under the draconian Public Safety Law after which he was shifted to the notorious Tihar jail, where he was deprived of all basic facilities. The Peace and Culture Organisation chairperson said that Malik currently is suffering from several ailments, including heart disease, kidney stones and a backache, but the notorious administration not only deprived him of his legal rights but also of medical and health rights. She lamented, “I have raised voice repeatedly and informed the world of her husband’s health condition that he needs immediate and urgent medical aid, but unfortunately the world and human right organizations observed criminal silence over the serious issue of human rights. “I demand that his passport should be returned to him so that he could go abroad for the best medical treatment because his life is presently at great risk,” she appealed. Mushaal went on to say that her husband whose sole crime is to raise a voice for the birth right of Kashmiri people was being treated worse than a terrorist in order to silence his voice. However, she vowed that the notorious authorities should bear in mind that they could not silence the most powerful and vociferous voice through such brutal tactics. She demanded that time ripe the world must now speak up against Indian atrocities in IOK, adding that the international community should raise its voice for her husband who is a political prisoner and a face of the Kashmiri freedom struggle.

The Chairperson said that the when the world is busy to battle the Coronavirus, the occupied authorities unleashed a new waves of state terrorism and barbarism and detained hundreds of innocent Kashmiri youth rather to release the detainees to check the virus spread. She said that the bloodthirsty Narendra Modi crossed all limits of oppressions and suppressions and the situation reached IOK to the boiling point. Mushaal warned that Kashmir has been turned into a volcano due to the decades of Indian occupation and repression, which could be erupted anytime, as smouldering lava is flowing through much of the occupied valley.Talking about the statement of Democratic presidential nominee and former vice president Joe Biden, she applauded Biden for his unequivocal and unambiguous stance on the unabated brutalities and continued human right violations in the occupied valley.

She said his statement is a clear indication that the world was eventually convinced of the state barbarism and atrocities in the IOK. However, Mushaal expressed optimism that the issue of Kashmir would not only be used for wooing and garnering Muslim’s votes but he would take tangible and practical steps to ensure resolution of the decades-long Kashmir dispute as per the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris people under the UNSC resolution.
