Farewell ceremony held in honor of outgoing VC KMU

PESHAWAR: A farewell function was held in honor of the outgoing Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Arshad Javed. Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtun for Higher Education Department Khalique-ur-Rahman was the chief guest of the function, where as beside others former Vice Chancellors of the University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Daud Khan, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hafizullah, Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq and Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapu, heads of all the constituent institutions, sections, elected members of the Syndicate and University staff was also present at the occasion. Addressing the function, Advisor to Chief Minister, Khaliq-ur-Rehman, said that we are proud of the services rendered by the Khyber Medical University at its Public Health Reference Lab to the province during the outbreak of the Corona pandemic. He said that the role and scope of KMU was different from other general universities of the province and hence it had dual responsibilities of excel in higher studies as well as in the field of health related disciplines. Khaliq-ur-Rehman said that the achievements made by KMU in the fields of administration, research and academics during the last thirteen years are an example for other univerties as well. Earlier, former Vice Chancellor of KMU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Daud Khan, Prof. Dr. Hafizullah and Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur expressed their views on the occasion. They said that all the three former Vice Chancellors of the University had been posted from outside while the present Acting Vice Chancellor belongs to the faculty of the University so it is hoped that he will solve the problems of the University in a better way as compare to the former Vice Chancellors. Meanwhile, Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq while addressing the function said that as long as he remains in office, he will not only carry on the traditions of the previous three Vice Chancellors but also further enhance the research and academic potential of the university. We will work with team spirit and no stone will be left unturned to achieve the target goals in future, he added.In the end the outgoing Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Arshad Javed expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest and the management and staff of KMU and said that the achievements made during his tenure was the result of excellent teamwork for which he is thankful to Allah Almighty and the KMU staff.
