Southampton: Zak Crawley (171*) and Jos Buttler (87*) dominated as England frustrated Pakistan and posted 332-4 at stumps on day 1 of the third Test.
The batting duo scored an unbeaten partnership of 205 runs for the fifth wicket to set a tone for the home side.
Deciding to bat first after winning the toss, England lost their opener, Rory Burns, earlier for just 12 runs. But, Dom Sibley and Crawley held the charge and scored 61 runs together to take a sigh of relief.
Sibley fell to Yasir Shah after scoring 22 runs and for Pakistan, it was a major breakthrough after quite a while. Later on, skipper Joe Root (29) and Ollie Pope (3) didn’t last long at the crease as they fell after regular intervals to leave England tattering at 127-4.
Yasir bagged two wickets while Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi took a wicket each.
Crawley and Buttler will resume the inning for England tomorrow.
