Coronavirus statistics in KP being reported with full transparency: Ajmal Wazir

PESHAWAR: Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Public Relations Ajmal Khan Wazir has said that according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization ( WHO) cases of Corona in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are being reported and whether it is deaths or positive cases, complete statistics are being shared with the public with transparency so that the public can see the real picture adding that the recovery rate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also higher than the rest of the provinces which is 31%.

Briefing the media at Civil Secretariat Itlla Cell, Information Advisor said that in just two months before the lockdown, more than 81,000 passengers from various Gulf countries, had arrived at Bacha Khan International Airport. Similarly, through Taftan and Torkham borders, migrants have also returned to their home countries who were kept in various quarantine centers. Ajmal Wazir said that immediately after the outbreak of Corona epidemic, our testing capacity was only 20 which has now been increased from 2200 to 2300, and this number will be further increased.

He said that health system of developed countries had failed against Corona, but our doctors and paramedical staff were fighting successfully against Corona despite limited resources. “We are proud of our doctors, nursing and paramedics staff and all front liners of corona and the whole nation salutes them. Dr Aurangzeb and Dr Azam sacrificed  their lives for the nation, the sacrifices of doctors and medical staff against Corona will not be in vain” he added. Ajmal Wazir said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was leading all the provinces against Corona from the front line adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan was moving forward in consultation with all the provinces.

He said that while fighting on front line against corona, ministers and chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have contracted to COVID 19. Regarding Overseas Pakistanis, Ajmal Wazir said that the opposition should not worry about them as they are closest to the heart of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“Overseas Pakistanis are our assets and they will not be left alone in this hour of need, the solution of all their problems is among the top priorities of the government” Ajmal added He said that he had recently visited Peshawar Airport on the special instructions of the Chief Minister and reviewed the arrangements.

He said as a result of the special efforts of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, the flight operation for overseas Pakistanis has started from Bacha Khan International Airport. Ajmal Wazir said there was no shortage of ventilators and beds in the hospitals of the province, which I had discussed in detail. Opposition should avoid baseless criticism. Ajmal Wazir once again appealed to the people to ensure implementation of SOPs as this is the only way to protect ourselves from corona virus.
