Newly elected executive body of AKNS meets in capital

ISLAMABAD: First session of newly elected executive body of All Kashmir Newspapers Society (AKNS) held in Islamabad on Tuesday. The session was presided over by the President AKNS, Sardar Zahid Tabassum. Increasing the budget of advertisements to Rs 150 million, releasing the funds for the clearance of all the pending payments, and to clear all the pending payments for development before June 30 demanded during the session. Detailed discussion on role of state’s media during the current situation caused by coronavirus discussed during the session. Media’s role in corona’s awareness lauded and the government’s negligence towards the state’s media condemned at the occasion. AKNS demanded from the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to establish a separate setup of Information Department for the Poonch Division and to allocate fund for it. A high level committee devised during the session to streamline the media’s issues with government. This committee is headed by Aamir Mehboob. Khalid Chaudhry from Mirpur, Sardar Abid Siddique from Rawalakot, and Raja Amjid from Muzaffarabad are the members of this committee. Another committee devised at the occasion to streamline all the issues of regional newspaper at Press Information Department (PID) Islamabad. This committee is headed by Amjid Chaudhry. Editor-in-Chief Daily Country News, Sardar Hameed and Javed Iqbal are the members of this committee. Deep grief expressed at the occasion for the deaths of senior journalist, Saleem Parwana and father of DIG Police, Sardar Rashid Naeem. The session was attended by President AKNS, Sardar Zahid Tabassum, Aamir Mehboob, Raja Amjid, Amjid Chaudhry, Khalid Chaudhry, Abid Siddique, Javed Iqbal, Chaudhry Tanveer Tanoli, and Mohsin Khawaja.
