The media wing of the army has confirmed the wreckage of the ill-fated helicopter which was on flood relief operations in Musa Goth, Winder, Lasbella.

The ISPR said that “All the 6 officers and jawans bearing the name of Lt. Gen. Sarfaraz Ali embraced martyrdom,” adding that according to preliminary investigations, the accident occurred due to bad weather.

A day ago, a military helicopter lost contact with air traffic control while going from Quetta to Karachi.

The army’s media wing said six people were on board, including the commander of 12 Corps who was overseeing flood relief operations in Balochistan.

According to the details, Major Saeed Ahmed was the pilot while Major Mohammad Talha Manan was the co-pilot of the helicopter. The Director-General of Coast Guards Brigadier Amjad Hanif, Brigadier Muhammad Khalid, and Naik Mudassir Fayyaz were also onboard the helicopter.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif contacted Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa by telephone and got the latest information regarding the incident.

In a telephonic conversation, COAS informed the Prime Minister about the ongoing search operations since last night.

The Prime Minister had expressed concern over the safety of 12 Corps Commander Lt Gen Sarfaraz Ali and 6 other officers and men on board the helicopter.
