Latif Akbar demands judicial inquiry commission to probe New York Times’ claims

Bureau Report

MUZAFFARABAD: President PPP AJK, Chaudhry Latif Akbar strictly condemned the claims of New York Times regarding the harassment of women in bunkers along the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He demanded from the government of AJK to establish Judicial Inquiry Commission for probing the claims of New York Times.

He said that thousands of people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir are living closer to the LoC in AJK. Government has time and again announced for the construction of bunkers for the people of LoC. But, no practical steps could be witnessed so far. If the government would have avoided giving the hollow statements and would have been focusing on practical steps then the international media would not get the chance to publish such derogatory news for defaming the government of the state, he added.

Chaudhry Latif Akbar condemned the reaction of the government and said that instead of taking any practical step against New York Times it released a statement to prove the news wrong. Government should promptly establish the inquiry commission. It should also take steps to construct safety bunkers for the people living closer to the LoC, Chaudhry Latif Akbar demanded.
