PC-1 of land acquisition for phase 2 of Swat Motorway Project cleared

PESHAWAR: PC-1 of land acquisition for phase 2 of Swat Motorway Project has been cleared by Central Development Working Party (CDWP) and submitted to the Executive Commitee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval which is expected in the next meeting of ECNEC to be held on 6th of this month. This was told in a meeting held here on Thursday with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan in the chair to review progress on the completion of Swat Motorway Phase-1and commencment of work on Phase-2 of the project. The meeting also rewired progress on the feasibility study of Peshawar to D.I.Khan Motorway Project. The meeting was Informed that work on the completion of Sawt Motorway Phase-1 is in final stages, work on the construction of road base, main tunnels and bridges has been completed and the remaining work is expected to be completed by the end of August this year. The meeting was told that pace of work on these projects was effect due to the prevailing Corona situation however, things have been fully mobilized again and work on projects is in full swing adding that physical progress on the projects as per the new time lines is being ensured as per the revised timelines. Besides Advisor to CM on Information Ajmal Wazir and MPA from Swat, Fazle Hakim, the meeting was attended by the concerned administrative secretaries and high ups Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority. The Chief Minister termed the Swat Motorway Project as of vital importance for the entire Malakand region and said that the project will boost bussiness and tourism activities in the region and thus provide employment opportunities for the people. He directed the relevant authorities to ensure the completion of Swat Motorway Phase 1 by the end of August this year and initiate land acquisition process for the Phase 2 of the project soon after the PC- is approved from the competamt forum. Regarding the progress on Peshawar to D.I.Khan Motorway Project, the meeting was informed that PC-2 for the feasibility study of the project is cleared whereas the PC-1 for commercial and financial feasibility of the project will be completed by September this year and submitted to the relevant forum for aplroval. The Chief Minister directed the concerned quarters to ensure the completion of the feasibility study of the project within the stipulated time period.
