Road project in constituency 5 of Poonch being delayed for last 7 years

RAWALAKOT: The work on second phase of the most important road of constituency 5 of district Poonch is being delayed for last seven years. The first phase of road which connects Aziz Abad, Dar, Balari, and Khhairyan was completed seven years ago, but the work on second phase could not be started yet. People of area announced to block Ghazi-e-Millat road and to hold protest in front of PM Secretariat if work on second phase would not be started soon.

According to detail, Kashmir Council approved Dar road from Ghazi e Millat road to Aziz Abad, Balari, and Khhairyan in 2011. Rs 210 million were approved for this project of 11 Kilometers. First phase was completed within the time period of one and a half year after its tender. But, some elements succeeded in delaying the second phase of the work due to which people are facing a number of problems.

Addressing the protesters, former candidate for Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sardar Shaukat Mehmood demanded from the PM AJK Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan; Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur; and Chief Secretary AJK to play their role to ensure the work on second phase of the project. After 13th amendment AJK government has got the authorities of Kashmir Council, therefore it is the responsibility of the government to complete this project, he added.
